Reporting to the Director of Publishing Operations Technology, we are seeking a mid-level Production Specialist to join our department. The ideal candidate will have the versatility to work on a large variety of titles with a focus on quick turnaround and accuracy.
This Production Specialist position will be focused on the detailed processing and management of reprint and POD titles. This role requires close collaboration with the Backlist Production Coordinator and other team members to ensure that titles are produced accurately and efficiently according to schedules and quality standards.
This position can be hybrid in Naperville, IL or NYC, or fully remote in the following states ONLY: AZ, CT, LA, MA, MD, MN, NJ, NY, NV, OR, PA, TN, TX, WA, AND WI.
This is an hourly, non-exempt position $19.50 - $24.03/hourly with the final offer dependent on experience and qualifications.

Production Specialist Key Responsibilities:
- Reprint and POD Processing: Execute the processing of reprint and POD titles, ensuring compliance with quality standards and timelines.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Backlist Production Coordinator to align on project schedules, priorities, and production needs.
- Quality Assurance: Review and validate reprint and POD copies for accuracy in design, layout, and formatting before final approval and printing.
- Coordination: Liaise with internal departments, such as manufacturing, design, and production, to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production processes, schedules, and project status updates.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance production efficiency and support the development of best practices.
- A degree in a graphic design related field, extensive knowledge of InDesign and Creative Suite applications, and a minimum of 2-4 years related experience.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience in a publishing production environment, particularly with reprints and POD processes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and coordinate across departments.
- Proficient in standard production software and tools.
- Excellent communication skills for clear and concise interaction with cross-functional teams.
