Job Description Manage production activities to ensure efficient and profitable operations. Provide work direction, supervision and goals to production supervisors and employees regarding company policy, operating procedures and efficiency, and regulatory requirements. Work closely with plant management to establish goals involving quality, safety, waste, efficiency, etc. The Production Manager is responsible for the training and development for supervisory staff on cheese making, whey processing, and regulatory compliance. Oversee daily production activities of cheese production, whey production, packaging, and warehouse functions. Convey company, facility, and department goals to employees. Oversee that Key Performance Indicators are met. Make changes to processing parameters to ensure yield maximization and customer specifications are achieved. Develop, implement, and update operating procedures for all processes to ensure efficient operations. Manage daily inventories of processing ingredients. Maintain safe working conditions for employees with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety. Ensure all plant personnel are operating in compliance with DFA policies for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation, and good manufacturing practices (GMP’s). Ensure that plant is operating in compliance with all federal, state, and local food industry regulations and maintain preparation for all plant inspections. Manage all assigned employees including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and performance. Oversee the job training program. Responsible for the development of supervisory staff. Actively communicate and participate with employees through shift meetings. Maintain and promote positive employee relations in the work environment. This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, AD&D, long term disability, short term disability, 401k and flex spending/HSA benefits This is a bonus eligible position Requirements Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED. 5+ years of supervisory experience in food production. Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must possess knowledge in cheese making. Must possess knowledge in whey processing. Demonstrate ability in planning, organizing, controlling, and coordinating the cheese and whey plant. Ability to interact in a positive and professional way. Must possess a balance of technical, human relations and conceptual skills required to achieve results through subordinate supervision. Capable of evaluating and weighing alternatives, establishing relative priorities, and formulating decisions that affect all phases of plant operation.
