Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, an international law firm, is actively recruiting a Lawyer Recruiting Coordinator in Houston. This position performs administrative work of a highly confidential and complex nature. Works closely with all levels of firm administration on various lawyer recruiting, training, and development initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Provides administrative support for the Sr Manager of Lawyer Recruiting & Development. Provides a variety of firmwide and office-specific recruiting and development support in those offices.
2. Ensures that all firm-wide response times are met as to all candidates at various stages in the recruiting process. Schedules appointments for candidates interview in the office and ensures completion of all required paperwork in keeping with best practices. Arranges attorney participation in interview process, and prepares and distributes interview schedules electronically, along with candidate credentials. Ensures that each candidate is appropriately welcomed upon his/her arrival to the office. Explains interview schedule to candidate and answers questions. Meets with candidates to recap interviews and answer questions following full round of interviews. Collects and compiles evaluations of candidates from lawyers for the office Recruiting Committee or the hiring practice group/team.
3. Coordinates assigned office summer associate programs, with direction from the Sr Lawyer Recruiting Manager and the Associate Director Entry Level Recruiting, and performs a variety of tasks including orientation, mentor assignments, event planning, meals, team lunches, coordination of office and work assignments, and setting up the summer associate module in LawCruit and office information on eHunt. Prepares all payroll and departure-related information for summer associates. Tracks updates and circulates summer budget and entertainment expenses to Summer Program/Hiring Committee and Hiring Partner.
4. Works in the legal recruiting applicant tracking system, LawCruit. Assists with processing and review of online applicants, including sending applicant materials to attorneys for review, and coordinating interviews for candidates, including contacting attorneys to secure their availability for interviews and setting up email confirmation letters to candidates and managing LawCruit interview reminders, schedule changes, and evaluation reminders for attorneys on the schedules. Updates the status and other items pertaining to applicants, and collects evaluations for applicants. Responds to general inquiries regarding the application process. Enters attorney evaluations manually into LawCruit as needed.
5. Acts as liaison between the firm and assigned law schools and job fairs for coordinating dates, logistics, and scheduling of on-campus interviews; registers with various schools via Symplicity, prepares the materials, interviewer notebooks, and give-aways for each event. Coordinates attorney interview arrangements, including travel. Maintains communications with law school career center officers and prepares all relevant correspondence. Completes and submits registration forms, relevant correspondence and firm literature required by law schools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three years’ job related experience required, including internships, preferably in a law firm, professional services, or other client relationship-based organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Ability to generate a large volume of work and be capable of making sound decisions in the absence of clear instructions. Exceptional written and verbal communication and listening skills. Accurate typing, word processing skills and ability to pay strict attention to detail. Spelling, punctuation and use of grammar must be of high quality. Must have strong organizational skills. Ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions. Visual acuity needed for transcription, extensive reading and input (typing) of information into computer. Ability to receive and convey detailed information through both written and oral communication. Essential competency processes include language ability, reasoning and memory. Ability to maintain flexibility regarding work assignments to work overtime on short notice required. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must possess the abilities or aptitudes to proficiently perform each of the responsibilities and accountabilities described above, with or without reasonable accommodation.
