2025 University Recruiting - Animal Health Retail Sales Intern at Merck in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description Job Description The Future Talent Program features internships that last up to 12 weeks and will include one or more projects. Our Animal Health Division (AH) U.S. Channel Team Sales Intern will be a field based (remote) full-time position supporting the AH overall business. The intern will support, and lead projects aligned to our company's strategic priorities. The intern will spend his/her summer in customer-facing roles, supporting both brick-and-mortar retailers as well as e-commerce retailers. The U.S. Channel Team Sales Intern will: + Support both the Retail sales team as well as the E-Commerce sales team, providing support for our company's retail & e-commerce product portfolio. + Be assigned to a Director for general direction/guidance, as well as a mentor to direct daily interactions with the assigned business team(s). + Have introductory training focused on products, programs, and an introduction into retail long-chain selling. + Develop and execute plans for engaging customers and meeting customer needs. + Work with Retail Distribution, Dealers, and Consumers to provide support to the Retail Sales Team promoting programs and sales, including detailing/selling our company's retail products, conducting surveys, setting retail merchandising displays, supporting dealer/industry meetings & tradeshows, and providing extended support of our company's sales team. + Participate in field-based events (trade show support; customers education regarding the features and benefits of AH products and services). + Present a summary of their summer contributions to leadership at the conclusion of the internship program. + Be required to rent a car. As part of this position requirements, you will have to be legally authorized to rent a car in the state in which you reside/work in. Required Education, Experience and Skills: + For a Field-based Sales Intern in Animal Health, you will be required to rent a car. As part of this position requirements, you will have to be legally authorized to rent a car in the state in which you reside/work in. + Valid driver's license and able to drive a vehicle. + Candidates must be in the process of earning a BA or BS degree and currently enrolled in any bachelor's or master's degree program (Animal Science, Ag Business, Agriculture, as well as Business, Marketing, or related degrees). + Candidates must have completed at least 2 years of college course work by May 2024. + Candidates must be available for a period of 10-12 weeks beginning May 19, 2025 + Candidates must be returning to school after completing this internship. + Candidates must have ability and willingness to travel up to 50%. + Candidates must have excellent interpersonal/communication and presentation skills. + Candidates must have general computer skills including working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint and the ability to use an iPad. + Candidates must have ability to be organized, adapt to a changing environment, work independently and as part of a team. + Candidates must have ability to travel and live in the region of the U.S. where the intern is placed for the period of the internship. Preferred Experience and Skills: + Retail, Sales, and/or Customer Service exposure + Sales training and/or applied sales exposure + Minimum GPA of 3.0 + Leadership roles during college + Basic knowledge of the Animal Health and/or Animal Feed industries + Food Production Animal exposure + Companion Animal (Equine & Canine) exposure + Additional language fluency Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.
