Position Overview: Manufacturing Engineer (Mechanical Engineer)
This position is located in Jasper, IN and reports to the Engineer Team Lead.
High Level Statement of the Role:
To refine and improve processes by continuously evaluating the capabilities and researching emerging technology to enhance KEJ's world class manufacturing capabilities.
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for:
- Establishing and maintaining overall Manufacturing Engineering support to meet Kimball Electronics Jasper/Group and its customer's requirements.
- Providing technical leadership to the customer teams and production floor.
- Continuously refine and improve the production process and methods to continuously reduce product cost, improve ergonomics, and improve quality.
- Incorporate new manufacturing process requirements into the appropriate design guidelines.
- Evaluate the requirements for assembly tooling, fixtures, and equipment required to support product schedule and cost goals, etc....)
- Additional duties as required.
Short Term to Midterm: (0 to 3 months)
- Learn KEJ systems and controls by reviewing existing applicable processes, SOPs, quality systems, and work instructions by the end of the third month.
- Complete On the job training form including Valor introduction, PAIs, ECO/Deviation process, Continual Improvements, and so forth. Will be completed by the end of month three.
- Understand and apply the processes applicable to ME role.
- Assess current state production methods and equipment. Determine course of action to improve manufacturing processes and tools that are critical to the mission.
- Provide technical leadership to the Customer Teams.
- Implement Lean and ergonomic manufacturing lines.
- Provide monthly report out of accomplishments.
- Provide strategic planning for manufacturing cell processes and capabilities.
- Lead the development of the manufacturing assembly area and equipment layout.
- Collaborate with KEJ Customer Teams, KEG sites, suppliers, etc. to develop best practices.
- Collaborate with KEJ DfX group to develop and continuously improve design for manufacturing guidelines that incorporate manufacturing requirements.

- Minimum 5 years experience in Electronics Manufacturing.
- Strong mechanical and electronics knowledge and experience
- Disciplined problem solving using DMAIC approach.
- Project Leadership skills
- Six Sigma Green Belt trained
- Thorough knowledge of Lean principles
- B.S. degree in Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education and/or experience
- Proven Process Improvement Experience
