Responsibilities:
We currently have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer at our Torrance, California location to support manufacturing of our traveling wave tube products. In this position, you will become familiar with the specialized assembly processes associated with this challenging product and provide manufacturing oversight to these operations. You will also support tooling processing across the product lines.
- Creating and updating assembly instructions, process instructions and in-process-record forms
- Generating and updating router instructions for assembly and rework operations
- Maintaining records of manufacturing yield or problem trends, and working with other engineers and manufacturing personnel to correct these items
- Helping train and certify operators to perform various manufacturing tasks
- Preparing for and participating in manufacturing readiness reviews
- Managing manufacturing tooling and equipment to ensure that it is calibrated, properly maintained, etc.
- Working with other engineers to define requirements for new or upgraded tooling and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent).
- 2 years of engineering experience supporting mechanical manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read prints, implement and track statistical process control charts, and write clear and complete assembly instructions is required
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as database software, is desired
- Effective verbal and written communications skills are required, with the ability to train hourly production personnel in a clean-room environment and provide primary on-the- floor production support
- Experience with welding, brazing and vacuum processes is highly desirable
