Job Description
Arnold Machine Inc., Tiffin, OH is a full-service designer and manufacturer of high quality, innovative automated equipment. We are a team of experienced engineers and machine tradesmen that can design and build virtually any type of customized automated equipment. We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to enhance our purchasing department. The position involves working closely with the Engineering Team, Project Team Leaders, and all other sales and operation team members. This position requires OEM purchasing experience, a strong working knowledge of an ERP system, and the ability to guide other team members.
The Senior Buyer reports directly to the Director of Operations, however much of the direction will come from the sales and engineering teams. The Senior Buyer will be asked to assist with the development and training of new team members along with continuously establishing process improvements. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for assisting in expanding the purchasing department by working with Human Resources and the Director of Operations to attract, interview, and hire new team members.
Responsibilities
• Procurement – Receives approved project BOMs from project team leaders to quote and procure. Assists managers in establishing strategic purchasing processes, procedures, and prioritizing tasks. Build and maintain relationships with vendors. Negotiate pricing and contracts, while evaluating and analyzing purchasing and pricing trends within the market to identify opportunities to reduce costs for a continuous improvement strategy.
• Reporting – Maintain ERP system and corresponding reports including the PO list and BOMs with all relevant details. Review and analyze regular procurement reports to follow up on open orders, receipts and resolve issues. Track, report, and confirm estimated delivery dates.
• Vendor Performance – Review vendor performance, to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities. Maintains vendor scorecard and reports performance to management.
• Production Meetings – Attend weekly production meetings to provide project procurement status.
• Demonstrate leadership skills while mentoring and developing team members
• Collaborate with accounts payable and receiving on adjustments, returns, and credits
• Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating work with other team members
• Ability to work on multiple projects as well as be a member of a cross functional team
Requirements
• High school diploma is required, a business degree is a preferred.
• Experience in OEM procurement management with mechanical and electrical aptitude is a requisite.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are a requisite.
• Strong organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills with an ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and problem-solving capabilities.
• Positive attitude with the ability to adapt to change, while working with all team members.
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
