We are currently seeking an experienced bookkeeper for our Finance department in Bowling Green, KY. This is a fulltime in-office position that requires daily presence in the office in Bowling Green with little opportunity for remote work. Relocation to Bowling Green is required for not-local applicants.


The Bookkeeper oversees our financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and accounts receivable as well as daily financial entries and reconciliations. The Bookkeeper furthermore records financial data into general ledgers to produce the balance sheet and income statements. This position may require occasional project work such as supporting system implementations and process changes.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains an accurate record of all financial transactions such as purchases or acquisition of assets, sales revenue or any expenses incurred and updates and maintains the general ledger.
  • Reconciles all entries in the Company’s accounting system in chronological order and ensures that all debits and credits made to one or multiple accounts always balance.
  • Posts all journal entries to the general ledger and provides an accurate summary of all transactions to individual accounts upon requests or as legally compliant.
  • Maintains and provides the trial balance by reconciliation of general ledgers upon the end of the accounting period or as directed by management and ensures that the total balance is calculated correctly for all accounts.
  • Posts adjusting entries to accounts as applicable to properly reflect accruals and deferrals at the end of the Company’s accounting period.
  • Makes corrective bookings and performs account reconciliations to assert the accuracy of transactions as appropriate.
  • Prepares source documents for data entry including obtaining proper authorization, coding accounts, matching receivers, and bills, and performing data entry of purchase orders and vendor bills.
  • Processes regular payment runs by creating and reviewing the open invoice report and upon proper authorization, selecting invoices for payment and preparing reconciliation of approved invoices to payments made.
  • Supports Finance projects such as the implementation of new systems, new or revised processes and best practices to various degree and in varying responsibility with opportunity to lead projects of their own.
Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to work in both physical and electronic filing systems.
  • Proven record of identifying and managing priorities with the ability to assign tasks and responsibilities to team members to achieve a common goal.
  • Excellent data entry skills with the ability to focus over long periods of time and the sense of urgency to escalate mistakes as appropriate.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills that prioritize solutions and the ability to present management with compliant recommended actions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel, as well as various accounting software, SAP preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field or at least 3 years of professional experience in a bookkeeping or entry level accounting position.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in a bookkeeping or entry level accounting position required.
  • Basic accounting knowledge including IFRS, U.S. GAAP, or another accounting framework.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
