Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Reports To: Plant Manager
Job Overview: The Manufacturing Engineer at Rusco Manufacturing will be integral to the production process, focusing on quoting, CAD modeling, CNC programming, and machine setup. This role will ensure manufacturing efficiency and accuracy while meeting customer specifications in a dynamic job shop environment. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is critical to optimize designs, improve processes, and maintain quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze customer requirements and generate accurate cost and time estimates for new projects.
- Review and interpret technical drawings and specifications to develop competitive and feasible quotes.
- Modify and improve existing designs to adapt to new project requirements.
- Collaborate with machinists to identify potential manufacturing challenges and optimize designs for production efficiency.
- Develop detailed CAD models and technical drawings for custom components and assemblies.
- Ensure designs comply with manufacturing capabilities and customer requirements.
- Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for various machines (e.g., milling, turning).
- Select appropriate tools and parameters to ensure efficiency and precision.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery of designs and related documentation.
- Oversee the setup of CNC equipment to ensure accurate production of parts.
- Collaborate with machinists to validate initial runs and adjust as needed to meet specifications.
- Address quality issues by implementing design modifications or recommending process improvements.
- Maintain up-to-date records for quotes, designs, CNC programs, and setup procedures.
- Provide clear instructions and guidelines for production teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and CAM tools.
- Strong understanding of machining processes such as milling, turning, and grinding.
- Knowledge of materials science, material selection, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
