The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing processes in an industrial plant. This role involves optimizing the use of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to boost operational efficiency. Additionally, the engineer is tasked with overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products, ensuring they meet or exceed expectations. They collaborate with various departments to drive continuous improvement and ensure efficient and safe manufacturing operations.
- Design and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, and systems to optimize production efficiency and ensure product quality.
- Identify areas for process improvement and develop strategies to streamline operations, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
- Collaborate with product design teams to ensure manufacturability and costing of new products and facilitate the transition from design to production.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve manufacturing issues, reduce defects, and minimize downtime.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and manufacturing guidelines.
- Evaluate and select appropriate equipment, machinery, and tooling to support manufacturing operations.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement projects, such as Lean Manufacturing initiatives, Six Sigma methodologies, and Kaizen events.
- Provide technical support and training to production personnel to ensure proper execution of manufacturing processes and adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials, components, and equipment that meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in manufacturing engineering to drive innovation and maintain competitive advantage.
Your Profile / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering. An advanced degree is a plus.
- 3 years of experience with degree or a minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process optimization, or similar roles.
- Strong grasp of manufacturing principles (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
- Proficient in CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and manufacturing software (e.g., ERP, MES).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for cross-department collaboration and stakeholder management.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Hands-on experience with machining, fabrication, and assembly is preferred.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, FDA) is desirable.
- A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on operational excellence and measurable results.
