Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manufacturing Engineer to play a critical role in optimizing manufacturing operations, tooling, and process controls. This individual will have the opportunity to evaluate and manage projects related to both new and existing equipment, automation, and manufacturing processes. With a focus on continuous improvement, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency, improve quality, and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with tool makers, maintenance, production workers, and supervisors to troubleshoot and resolve tooling and manufacturing issues.
  • Lead efforts related to assembly, production, resistance welding, stamping, and metal or roll forming processes.
  • Review new part prints and work with product engineering teams to enhance manufacturability.
  • Create cost comparisons and ROI calculations to aid in supplier selection.
  • Plan, justify, procure, and implement new equipment, tooling, and fixtures to meet current and future production needs.
  • Perform payback analysis and support justification for major capital investments.
  • Develop and refine operations, methods, and processes to enhance cost efficiency, quality, and productivity.
  • Establish and maintain work standards for labor and machine cycle times, influencing manufacturing performance metrics.
  • Conduct operational studies to optimize workflow and space utilization.
  • Design and update facility and process layouts using AutoCAD.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and cost-reduction initiatives leveraging lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Perform capacity analysis for both short-term and long-term manufacturing planning.
  • Independently compile and analyze data for project and team review.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex manufacturing process issues.
  • Strong knowledge in stamping, welding, powder coat, material handling automation, robotics, and coatings (wet and dry).
  • Familiarity with engineering and manufacturing best practices, including Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multi-functional projects using structured project management principles.
  • Proficient in metal forming, machining, and welding.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints, facilitating equipment installation and fabrication.
  • Proficiency in standard business software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to quickly adopt and implement new ideas and processes to enhance departmental efficiency.
Preferences:
  • Experience in a variety of manufacturing environments, with a focus on automation and robotics.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent experience in process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with cost reduction and continuous improvement programs.
