MANAGER - MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING

Position Overview

The Manager - Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for leading a team of manufacturing engineers in the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes. This role is part of an executive leadership team managing an aircraft OEM. This position ensures that all production activities meet quality standards, cost efficiency, and timeline goals while adhering to industry regulations and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management:

  • Team Leadership
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing engineers and tooling and planning professionals.
  • Assign tasks, set goals, and monitor performance to ensure team alignment with project objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.

Process Development & Optimization:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes for aircraft components and assemblies.
  • Ensure processes meet quality, cost, and efficiency targets.
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new products.
  • Drive the implementation of lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Quality & Compliance:

  • Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with industry regulations, standards and customer requirements.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to identify and resolve manufacturing issues, ensuring high levels of product quality.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address production issues.

Project Management:
  • Lead manufacturing engineering projects from concept to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including design, procurement, and production, to ensure project success.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to stay on track with timelines and budgets.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in: Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven experience in leading manufacturing projects and teams.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations are preferred.

Skills:

  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in CAD software, manufacturing simulation tools, and ERP systems.
  • SAP experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
