This role includes tracking production costs, analyzing variances, managing inventory accounting, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data related to manufacturing activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in cost accounting and financial analysis within a manufacturing environment, along with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights to senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed cost analysis related to manufacturing activities, including direct materials, labor, and overhead.
- Track and analyze production costs, material usage, and inventory levels, identifying variances and providing actionable insights.
- Maintain accurate cost accounting records, including updating product costs and standard cost models.
- Conduct variance analysis for actual versus standard costs, investigating and explaining discrepancies.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations related to inventory and manufacturing accounts.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
- Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts related to manufacturing costs and capital expenditures.
- Participate in physical inventory counts and reconcile any discrepancies between recorded and actual inventory levels.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and controls related to manufacturing accounting and inventory management.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, including standard costing, overhead allocation, and variance analysis.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Experience in inventory management and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes is a plus.
