JOB SUMMARY
Our Mechanical Engineer’s play a key role in supporting low-volume, high-complexity coil manufacturing within an FDA-regulated environment. This position involves providing extensive technical and process support across multiple departments, including Line Production, R&D, Service, Quality, Purchasing, and Planning. This position plays a large role in supporting and troubleshooting 3D printers used in the manufacturing process.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a variety of tasks. This multifaceted role requires both independent work and collaboration within cross-functional teams. The engineer will also lead projects, managing them autonomously and driving them to successful completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide continual leadership to improve quality and reduce cost of manufacturing processes as a member of the Manufacturing Engineering team
- Management of Manufacturing Engineering projects
- Drafting and Mechanical Design – including:
- ECO drafting support
- Design and creation of tooling and fixtures
- Continuing Engineering mechanical design changes
- Supplying mechanical and materials expertise to the team
- Life-cycle support, including Production, Process and Service support
- New product introduction (NPI) support
- Process improvements and Continuing Engineering
- Supplier, Vendor and Customer technical support
- Assembly documentation
- Mechanical assembly troubleshooting
- Traditional manufacturing engineering, including documentation and change orders (ECOs)
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- 4 year degree, with BS in mechanical engineering or related field preferred
Required Experience and Skills
- At least two years’ experience working in a professional environment
- Fixture Design Experience
- Experience with Engineering Change Orders
- Experience writing Work Instructions/Manufacturing Routers
- Recent college graduates will be considered for this position with a minimum of one substantive professional internship, co-op or university lab.
- Competency with SolidWorks or other drafting software - minimum one year experience
- Competency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel)
- Fluent in English with above average writing skills

- A preferred candidate will have experience in one or more of the areas noted below. An ideal candidate will have Project Management experience.

- Process Improvement and/or Continuing Engineering
- Process validation, including development of validation protocols
- Production line troubleshooting – assembly
- 5S and Lean manufacturing
- Automated Assembly experience
- LabView software programming
- Automation technologies
- Design for Automation
- Production Support experience
- Competency in any ERP or PLM software (SAP, Agile, Dynamics GP, etc.)
- Writing assembly manuals
- Instructor experience (any subject)
- Familiarity with Change Orders (ECO)
- Quality Management System Support, including knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g. ISO, FDA, etc.)
- Purchasing and Vendor support
