POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Maintenance Director, the Maintenance Assistant assists in the maintenance and improvement operations of YMCA facilities and vehicles, including preventative maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. This is a part-time, night-time, and every other weekend position.
2. Clean and maintain common areas, including restrooms, dining halls, and lodging, workout (Fitness Floor)
3. Perform custodial duties such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, buffing, dusting, trash removal, and floor care tasks.
4. Ensure that all buildings are maintained in accordance with approved YMCA, OSHA and/or other certifying agency standards
5. Maintain appropriate inventory of equipment and supplies
6. Ensure YMCA buildings and property are secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to Director
7. Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school graduate or equivalent, minimum age 18 years
2. Working knowledge of various cleaning equipment.
3. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
4. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals and other documents
5. Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment
6. CPR, First Aid and AED certifications preferred within 30 days of employment
7. Familiarity with personal computers helpful
8. Six months or more of related experience preferred
