PRIMARY FUNCTION: Works under the operation of custodial services for the school district in an effort to achieve a clean, safe, efficient, hygienic, and positive environment for employees to work and students to learn.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred, experience in custodial services or building and grounds operations, ability to initiate and complete work orders.
1.
Performs general, routine custodial duties to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies
2.
Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
3.
Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
4.
Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.
5.
Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels
6.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; maintains a safe work environment.
7.
Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities based on seasonal/project requirements.
8.
Assists with on-the-job training of new staff in routine procedures.
9.
Performs other duties as assigned by Custodial Supervisor or Executive Director of Operations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to inspect, maintain, and repair tools and custodial equipment. Knowledge of guidelines and procedures relating to school safety as it relates to chemicals, cleaning practices etc. Ability to supervise, direct, and manage staff. Ability to organize, multi-task, and be self-motivated. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision and meet deadlines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position requires mostly sitting, standing, and walking. Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and kneeling are required, with weights not normally to exceed thirty (30) pounds. Must be able to tolerate all types of weather conditions and must work outside on occasion.
