Primary Purpose:
Demonstrate success in the cleaning of buildings and grounds, and the ability to get along with school faculty, students, and colleagues.
Qualifications:
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of routine custodial practices and methods
Knowledge of equipment, chemicals, and materials used in cleaning processes
Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance
Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Safety
Equipment Used:
Buffer, stripper, auto scrubber, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, auto
scrubber and shampooer.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and ladders. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials. Frequent district wide travel.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Records, Reports, and Correspondence
- Complete all work assignments assigned by the Lead custodian.
- Ensure the security of the building.
- Be responsible for energy management in assigned areas.
- Maintain clean and orderly closest and storerooms.
- Report maintenance needs to lead custodian for initiation of work orders.
- Reschedule work assignments to accommodate meetings or special activities.
- Get to know the teachers in assigned area and become familiar with their classroom preferences.
- Work in concert with maintenance personnel to accommodate both maintenance and custodial work schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the lead custodian, or the Custodial Supervisor or his/her designee.
- Assist in setting up facilities for special events
Safety
- Ensure proper and safe use of equipment and chemicals.
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work are and report any conditions that are not correctable to lead custodian.
