TITLE: Custodian
QUALIFICATIONS:
REPORTS TO: Head Custodian and Plant Operations Supervisor
JOB GOAL: To provide students, parents, and teachers with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play, and obtain an education.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Non-exempt position. Twelve month work year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the tasks assigned.
- The ability to communicate in verbal or written form.
- Three written and verified references on file.
- Previous training or experience preferred.
- Valid Maryland driver's license.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Head Custodian and Plant Operations Supervisor
JOB GOAL: To provide students, parents, and teachers with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play, and obtain an education.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleans and maintains all areas of assigned responsibility including, sweeps, mops, wet-washes, buffs, burnishes, and vacuums floors.
- Dusts furniture, cleans and polishes fixtures, washes windows, scrubs and disinfects toilet rooms.
- Lifts and carries items in excess of 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Reports any unusual conditions or malfunctioning of heating, plumbing, or electrical system, as soon as they are discovered.
- Conducts inspection of doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
- Completes all preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Assists in ice and snow removal.
- Complies with local and state laws in the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
- Attends safety, maintenance, and custodial meetings as requested by Head Custodian, School Manager, Principal, or Plant Operations Supervisor.
- Assists Head Custodian in checking fire alarm system and assumes responsibility for the general fire safety and general security of the building.
- Performs emergency repair or cleaning services as necessary.
- Keeps building clear of people not on official school business and assists law enforcement officers as directed by Principal.
- Checks interior and exterior lighting.
- Reports any violations of exterior parking rules and regulations.
- Assists in the maintenance and care of the school grounds.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
