What You'll Do

Overview

The Custodian (Full Time ) is responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly environment within the facility. This role involves performing routine cleaning tasks, minor maintenance, and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for all building occupants.

The Custodian (Full-Time) will directly report to the Custodial and Maintenance Manager.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Cleaning Duties: Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal in all areas of the facility.
  • Restroom Maintenance: Clean and sanitize restrooms, restock supplies, and ensure facilities are in proper working order.
  • Surface Cleaning: Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning products and techniques.
  • Minor Maintenance: Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, unclogging sinks, and performing simple repairs.
  • Event Setup/Cleanup: Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture and equipment for events and meetings as needed.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Follow established safety procedures and guidelines. Report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor promptly.
  • Deep Cleaning: Perform regular deep cleaning tasks, including carpet cleaning, and thoroughly cleaning hard-to-reach areas to ensure a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility.
Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment. Notify manager when supplies need to be reordered.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Experience with floor stripping and waxing.
  • Other qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, if necessary.
    • Prior experience in a K-12 education setting preferred
