This is an 8 hour/day, 12 month position under the Classified Bargaining Agreement. The start date is as soon as possible. This position is open until filled.
DEFINITION
Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, Custodian Lead or Engineer and receives direction from the Custodial Supervisor plans and personally performs assigned routine cleaning work as required.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This position is an entry level position into the custodian field, takes direction from the Engineer or Custodial Supervisor and is given a work schedule to follow.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes concrete, linoleum, tile, and wood floors; vacuums rugs and carpets in school offices and rooms; cleans and dusts walls, furniture, woodwork, and equipment; picks up paper and other refuse on grounds; sweeps walks and entrances; washes, scrubs, and disinfects restrooms; cleans windows, door panels, and drinking fountains; cleans and polishes any metal work such as hand railings, empties and cleans waste containers; assists in moving chairs, tables, desks, furniture and other furnishings; replaces light bulbs; maintains equipment used in the course of work; performs special custodial work upon request of faculty members with supervisor's approval; reports safety, sanitary, and fire hazards to proper authority; may perform routine grounds keeping duties and be responsible for locking doors and windows, turning out lights, and securing building as assigned. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
- Modern cleaning methods and use, care, and safety of cleaning materials and equipment;
- Blood borne pathogen and current in all other federal and state required training.
Ability to:
- Read, write, and follow oral and written instructions with little supervision;
- Use cleaning materials and equipment with skill, efficiency, and safety;
- Perform heavy duty labor;
- Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with students, fellow employees, and the general public;
- Maintain confidentiality in all phases of work, i.e. records, meetings, parent rights, etc.
- Routinely lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds with assistance;
- Use and navigate computer technology;
- Complete all district required training.
Experience:
- Previous experience in custodial work.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent as required by Oregon Administrative Rules, Oregon Department of Education.
