Job Summary
The purpose of this job posting is to fill current and upcoming vacancies, and to create an eligibility list for the position of Custodian I.*
Employees of the Buildings and Grounds Department at SLCUSD share responsibility for providing clean, safe schools and office for students, staff, and visitors. Custodians clean and maintain assigned buildings and grounds, and perform related duties as assigned. Additional details and essential job functions are outlined in the job description.
SLCUSD has an 18-step salary schedule with a pay increase after passing a probationary period, annual step increases each year thereafter (one increase per year, up to step 18), generous contributions to medical/dental/vision and retirement benefits, 15 paid holidays per year for year-round employees, great time off accrual rates, and more.

*This posting will be used to to fill current and upcoming vacancies, and to create an eligibility list for the Custodian I classification, to fill positions that may arise over a six-month period. Eligible candidates will be invited to an exam, and with a passing exam score, will be invited to an oral board interview. Candidates who pass both the exam and interview will be placed on the eligibility list, which will be valid for six months. The top three ranks of candidates on the eligibility list will be contacted for a hiring interview each time a vacancy arises.
SLCUSD has school sites in San Luis Obispo, Los Osos and Morro Bay. Location of vacancies are subject to change based on in-house transfers or needs of the district. Applicants must pass Fingerprint and TB clearances, have a valid California driver's license, and a good driving history.
SPECIAL NOTES: 1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process. 2) Applicants with disabilities need to notify the Personnel Office of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing. 3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview. A "veteran" as used here means any person who served in the United States armed forces in time of war, or national emergency. 4) Eligibility lists are established for a period of six months. 5) This is a dual examination in which the resulting eligibility list shall consist of promotional and open competitive candidates.

- Driver's License Copy (IMPORTANT: A valid California driver's license will need to be presented prior to being offered a position; and candidates must have a good driving history. Driving records will be confirmed. )
