One (1) FTE Custodian

8 Hours/260 Days

(11:00 AM to 7:30PM)

Must possess a High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent

and have basic computer skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

POSITION: CUSTODIAN

RESPONSIBLE TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL/ SUPERVISOR

JOB GOAL: To maintain the facilities in a condition of cleanliness and operating excellence so that students, staff and visitors will be furnished an attractive and comfortable educational environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
One to two years related experience preferred
Basic computer knowledge
Must be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to use most common hand tools
Required to lift, carry, push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds, in accordance with OSHA guidelines
Willing to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board Of Education may find appropriate

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain immediate areas around the assigned building exterior doors up to curb
to keep them clear of snow, ice and debris, due to the fire code.

2. Wash interior and exterior windows and removes graffiti as necessary.

3. Performs regular custodial duties in the buildings.

4. Empty trash receptacles inside and outside doorways daily and keep them clean as
needed. Removes trash from the buildings daily.

5. Assist visiting members of the public who are utilizing the facilities.

6. Check schedule daily to provide necessary assistance to support curricular and extra-curricular events.

7. Thoroughly clean all surfaces in restrooms.

8. Maintain custodial closets in a neat and orderly manner.

9. Keep inventory of all supplies.

10. Perform general cleanup - any and all incidents as they arise.

11. Prepare work orders using the web-based work order system of the district.

12. Occasionally work from elevated surfaces while conducting overhead cleaning.

13. Keep all necessary items such as but not limited to windows, air locks, chalk/eraser boards, lockers, furniture, and display cases clean at all times.

14. Check daily to insure all doors and windows are locked / unlocked as needed.

15. Report any major repair need or other deficiencies to the supervisor.

16. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or principal.

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Work indoors and outdoors during hot and cold weather.
2. Work with moving mechanical equipment.
3. Work with cleaning chemicals that may require safety precautions.
5. Meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
6. Work in moderate noise levels.
7. Work in height levels in accordance with OSHA guidelines.

EVALUATION: Performance of these responsibilities will be evaluated by the Building and Grounds Supervisor in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy.
