Description:

Works from engineering drawings and Bill of Materials to fabricate and weld conveyor and components.

Accurately measure and layout holes and locations for welded components.

Adjust welder as needed to accommodate varying thicknesses of steel.

Operates welder, grinder, drill, variety of hand/power tools and measuring devices. Operates overhead crane and forklift, if certified.

Completes all required paperwork, records, and documentation.

Follows and maintains all safety and work rules/regulations including the proper use of PPE: safety glasses, steel toed shoes, welding helmet, grinding shield, tight fitted clothing, hearing protection, and gloves.

Maintains departmental housekeeping 5S standards.

May travel to customer facilities to perform service work.

May assist in training new employees in the safe and most efficient use of fabricating and welding methods.

Works in other departments as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

On the job as commensurate with this position.

Sheet metal capabilities preferred. The ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, bill of materials, operating and safety manuals, instructions and procedure/work instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with others.

Possess a good mechanical ability and can perform basic calculations to operate welding and fabricating machines.

1 - 3 years trade training, and/or related experience or combination of education/experience.

Required to stand, use hands/feet, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, crawl, reach, climb & sit. Must regularly lift and or move up to 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

Visual acuity as needed to perform the job functions.

Noise level is somewhat loud. May be exposed to fumes, sparks, airborne particles, vibration, chemicals, and extreme heat.
