The Sports Psychologists focus is on helping athletes reach goals and cope with anxiety or mood disorders that can impede performance. A Sports Psychologist will evaluate and treat athletes individually and in group setting collaborating with physicians and trainers in the MyMichigan Health WellSport program. The Sports Psychologist will also work collaboratively with other professionals and college personnel.
Responsibilities:
(40%)* Individual Treatment: Plans and implements individual behavioral plans of care. Works collaboratively with patients to help them to alleviate symptoms and maximize performance.
(20%)* Group Treatment: Develop and deliver group interventions for athletes.
(20%)* Integrated Care: Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to best meet the patients needs.
(10%)* Care coordination: For more complex situations, Make appropriate referrals and provides care coordination to help patients meet their bio-psycho-social needs. Administers clinical diagnostic interview and psychometric instruments, scores and completes a report and completes patient/family feedback conferences.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Completes education and cross training to teammates and other behavioral health personnel, and willingly agrees to provide sport psychology consultation for patients in other medical center departments as needed.
Assists with orientation and oversight of new behavioral health staff and/or psychology students to the program.
Assures that billing charges are completed, and that all documentation is completed accurately within specified time frames.
Works in supportive collaboration with other treatment team members and provides clinical leadership to meet patient needs.
Willingness to provide community services including development of programs.
Performs other functions as assigned.
Certifications and Licensures:
PCSW - Psychologist/Counselor/Social Worker
Required Equivalent Experience - Training in sport psychology preferred.

Education: Doctorate

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
Training and experience in diagnosing, assessment, crisis intervention, treatment and transition planning; techniques in motivational interviewing and Sport Psychology; awareness of community resources, ensuring transitions to appropriate levels of care, as needed.
Training and experience with trauma-informed care and culture competence to work with patients with varying backgrounds.
Interpersonal skills needed to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear understandable manner and the ability to interact effectively individually and in groups.
Must adhere to the National Code of standards and ethics for psychologists.
Must follow MyMichigan Health policies and procedures.
Must meet mandatory educational competency requirements to maintain licensure.

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time.
May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.
Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling.
May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
