Position Summary:

Canyon Bicycles is seeking a skilled and passionate Mechanic to join our marketing team. This role combines expert-level bicycle mechanical skills with the ability to represent Canyon at events and activations. The ideal candidate will be experienced in working with pro athletes and high-level ambassadors, while also thriving in customer-facing situations to promote Canyon’s products.

The selected candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining bikes for events, ensuring top-tier support for athletes, engaging with event attendees, and assisting with event logistics, setup, and takedown.

Marketing Event Support:

  • Support all major marketing activations, including trade shows, races, and community events.
  • Represent Canyon’s brand, engaging with attendees to answer product-related questions and provide demonstrations.
  • Assist with event booth setup, takedown, and overall logistics.

Mechanic/Pro-Sport Support:

  • Provide on-site mechanical support for professional athletes and teams at races, training camps, and events.
  • Assemble, tune, and maintain high-performance road, mountain, and gravel bikes to the highest standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Perform pre- and post-event bike inspections, repairs, and adjustments.
  • Coordinate the build and shipment of pro-level bikes to athletes, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to performance specifications.
  • Track, retrieve, and manage assets from athletes, ensuring proper documentation and condition upon return.

Inventory & Organizational Support:

  • Maintain and organize the bike inventory and event equipment in collaboration with Asset and Marketing Manager
  • Ensure the service course and workspaces are clean, well-stocked, and functional.
  • Track and report inventory usage to ensure accurate records for future planning.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a bike mechanic (plus to have worked in a race or team environment).
  • In-depth knowledge of bicycle components, maintenance, and repair techniques.
  • Familiarity with high-end components, including Shimano, SRAM, Campagnolo, and electronic shifting systems.
  • Experience working with carbon frames, wheels, and advanced drivetrain systems.
  • Ability to support any complex needs of professional athletes and maintain positive relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage bike builds, shipments, and asset tracking.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and functional workspace, including organizing tools and supplies.
  • Experience working under pressure in fast-paced environments.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including weekends and holidays, and work long hours at events.
  • Valid driver’s license with experience driving larger vans.
  • Must work out of Carlsbad, HQ at least 3 days per week when not traveling (hybrid model).

  • Proven understanding of mechanics for mountain, road, gravel, and eBikes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Results driven, with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, adapt to changing priorities, take decisive action to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate technical information effectively to a diverse audience.
