Campus Recreation serves as an integral part of university life by offering diverse sports, recreational and fitness activities that are fun, vigorous, healthy, and conducive to personal wellness. The department supports the academic mission by creating a climate that motivates individuals to embrace a healthy lifestyle, build social communities and develop leadership opportunities that contribute to anteater pride. The vision of the department is to provide programs and services to the anteater community in a manner that meets or exceeds the standards of excellence of the University.
Responsibilities:
As a member of the Campus Recreation leadership team, the Assistant Director of Recreational Sports oversees the administration and organization of a comprehensive recreational sports program, consisting of club sports, intramurals, recreation instruction and youth programs. The Assistant Director articulates overall mission for recreational sports program in addition to developing and promoting the shared vision that drives departmental, divisional, and institutional priorities and the ongoing organization of work. Create and implement short-term and long-term organizational plans consistent with the strategic plan to ensure mission effectiveness. The Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring that each programmatic budget aligns with department projections. Responsibilities include direct supervision of department sponsored special events along with supervision of four program managers.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $77,000 - $108,100 (Annual).

- Knowledge of campus policies and procedures.

- Demonstrated skill in listening perceptively and maintaining equanimity when dealing with conflicts, complaints, and difficult situations
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with co-workers, employees and the public.
- Ability to supervise full-time and part-time staff; including the ability to interview, mentor, manage conflict, team build and problem solve
- Red Cross CPR required.
- Standard First Aid Training Certification required.
- 5-10 years of progressive program management and staff leadership experience in collegiate recreation or affiliated field.
Preferred:
- Masters degree in related area and / or equivalent experience
Special Conditions:
- Ability to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check.
- Occasionally will be asked to work night and/or weekends, dependent on what department and programmatic needs require.
