Job Description

Our award-winning AECOM Sports and Venues practice is seeking a Senior Architectural Project Manager for immediate employment based in either of our three offices, located in Kansas City, MO, Los Angeles, CA and New York, NY. The candidate is to lead and execute interdisciplinary projects with a focus on Sports, and Public Assembly, including professional and collegiate arenas, stadia and coliseums, recreation centers.

Our Sports practice is an established leader in the market with over three decades of success. This studio sized practice focuses its work on everything from performance and development facilities to primary competition venues, ranging anywhere from small collegiate clients to the largest of professional leagues and franchises. Job Summary/Responsibilities

  1. The role will be responsible for managing scope, schedule, and budget of projects across the project lifecycle - from conceptual studies to full design and construction administration.
  2. Responsible for planning and managing project staffing requirements, reporting project performance, and identifying and addressing scope creep, schedule, or quality issues to ensure a successful delivery of assigned projects.
  3. Working with interdisciplinary technical leads in coordinated successful execution of projects in design and construction.
  4. Engaging with both Team leaders, Client Contacts, and Partner firms.
  5. Reviewing and negotiating contracts and preparing fee proposals.
  6. Managing and leading teams and staff.
  7. Successfully developing strategy, mitigation efforts, proposals, contract review, and leading project teams to execute projects.
  8. Managing and supporting all technical, financial, and client satisfaction areas using established processes and tools.
  9. Support business development efforts as required to engage new client opportunities.
  10. Managing teams across business lines.
  11. Managing subconsultant scope, fees, deliverables, and performance.
  12. Coordinating internal resources and third parties/subcontractors for the execution of projects.
  13. Ensuring that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  14. Assisting in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility.
  15. Developing and monitoring a detailed project plan to track progress and identify shortfalls in a timely manner.
  16. Managing changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs to minimize risk.
  17. Measuring project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  18. Reporting and escalating to management as needed.
  19. Managing the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
  20. Performing risk management to minimize project risks.
  21. Maintaining project documentation control.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Architecture degree from an accredited program or related field +8 years of relevant architectural experience in all phases of projects or related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered architectural licensed is preferred.
  • NCARB registration is desired.
  • Experience managing a group ranging in size from a team of 5-15 architects, designers and/or consultants, coordinating activities of the project and held accountable for the development, coordination, and execution of the design and/or construction management activities and the management of project personnel under her/his direction on a day-to-day basis.
  • Successful completion of AECOM Project Management Certification Program within six months is mandatory.
  • Existing high-level understanding of contractual agreements and obligations with a goal of minimizing risks at both the client and consultant levels.
  • Understanding of project work breakdown structure (WBS) plans, schedules, staffing, and budgets with an interest in financial management required.
  • LEED Certification not required but preferred.
  • PMP Certification not required but desired.
  • 10+ years of experience with sports, public assembly &/or higher education projects.
  • Experience in implementing design quality assurance and quality control activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated team-building ability and internal/ external networking skills.
  • Ability to interact regularly and professionally with senior management and technical staff in other offices on business development and project execution issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proven organizational skills with a proven track record in client satisfaction.

Additional Information

Travel will be required as AECOM Sports projects are generally not locally based and at select times of the project cycle overtime would be required to complete all the necessary duties and responsibilities activities.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $120,000.00 - $180,000.00.
