Participates in the implementation of a community-oriented dental program, by providing general dental care in the educative, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative areas. At sites where the Dental Director is not available on a regular basis or on a continuous basis, the Dentist at that site will supervise the day-to-day activities of the dental hygienist and EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary) if any are present at the clinic in which the provider is providing dental treatment, pursuant to the New Mexico Board of Dental Health Care, Statutes, Rules and Regulations. The Dental Assistants will be supervised in collaboration with the Dental Clinic Manager.

Education

Graduation from an approved and accredited school of dentistry with a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.). Licensure to practice dentistry in New Mexico is required. Licensure must be kept current, full, and unrestricted through participation in an appropriate course of continuing education. If licensure is not from the State of New Mexico, endorsement by the New Mexico Board of Dentistry is required.

Certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is required.

Experience

No specialized experience is required.
