About the job Dental Hygienist

The duties of a Dental Hygienist are among the most comprehensive and varied in our dental office. Our Dental Hygienists are motivated, team-oriented professionals who possess the ability to work with patients of all ages. As a Dental Hygienist, your duties revolve around conducting initial patient screenings, cleaning teeth (e.g. removing plaque) and advising patients on oral health and preventative care. You'll also help dentists decide treatments for teeth or gum diseases and handle dental emergencies. This position requires excellent interpersonal, communication, and technical skills along with friendly chairside manner. Daily Duties

  • Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination
  • Conduct initial mouth screening and check oral health history
  • Identify conditions such as gingivitis, caries, or periodontitis
  • Take digital x-rays or dental impressions
  • Apply preventative materials and treatments to teeth (e.g., remove plaque or apply fluoride)
  • Chart observations, comments, and recommended treatments
  • Monitor supply inventory
  • Assist Dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases
  • Educate children and parents on proper brushing techniques and the importance of the recommended treatments
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of an accredited Dental Hygiene education program
  • Valid Dental Hygiene license
  • Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist
  • Experience taking digital x-rays (required)
  • Strong understanding of HIPPA
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, Google Suites, email, social media, copiers, and multiple line phone system
  • Ability to be a team player who enjoys working and assisting with others
  • Must be a problem solver, task oriented, and pay attention to detail
