JOB SUMMARY

- Answers telephones; including scheduling of patient appointments, account billing inquiries, and detailed dental communication notes. Prepares for future appointments (i.e. prints daily schedules, confirms appointments, and fills cancellation appointments as schedule permits).
- Greets incoming patients and visitors. Marks the schedule appropriately, obtains significant demographic information from pertinent forms, and electronically updates patient registration information. Has registration updated and encounter worksheet prepared to maintain an efficient workflow.
- Responsible for acquiring patient financial information and collecting payment. Accurately completes income determination. Verifies insurance eligibility. Accountable for cash drawer and daily deposit accuracy.
- Assists outgoing patients, schedules appointments, and completes appointment cards. Thoroughly reviews treatment plans with the dental support staff and makes financial arrangements accordingly. Establishes interpreter services as needed.
- Utilizes computer software programs. Scans documents into appropriate patient record. Electronically inputs, prints, and mails no-show letters to patients according to the Dental No-Show Policy.Generates patient portal pin numbers.

MARGINAL JOB DUTIES

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.Associate degree in health related field preferred. Pertinent experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
- Licensure: N/A
- Experience: Minimum of six months of previous experience in a medical/dental office or customer service position required.One to Two years of experience in a dental office setting preferred.
- Skills: Excellent communication and math skills.Organized and detailed.Efficient typing, computer, calculator, and filing skills.Courteous telephone etiquette.Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.Bilingual preferred.
- Interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate effectively with, and relate to, a diverse population in a professional and courteous manner including patients and coworkers.Flexible and able to function as a team member.Good verbal and written skills.
- Physical Effort: Must be able to sit, stand, and or walk for an entire workday. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and or twist while holding up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
- Hours of Work: Full-time/part-time; flexible and varied.Extended hours may be required.
- Travel: Additional travel may be required to various GLBHC sites. Reimbursement consistent with GLBHC policy.
