Responsibilities

As a Labor & Delivery Nurse at Glendale Memorial Medical Center, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll guide patients through the labor and childbirth process, focusing on the safety of the mother and baby with kindness and compassion.

You will have varying roles and responsibilities, including:

  1. Triage walk-ins to determine if a patient is in labor, if water is broken, or if it’s a false alarm.
  2. Support pregnant patients in labor including induction, epidural assistance (if needed), general pain management, and fetal monitoring.
  3. Assist and circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections, tubal ligation, cerclage, and emergency procedures.
  4. Educate patients on various interventions or procedures - medications (name and purpose), exams, and labor stages.
  5. Assess newborn and provide care.
  6. Communicate with the care management team including anesthesiologist, physician or midwife, lactation nurse, charge nurse, postpartum unit, patient, and family.

Qualifications

  1. 6 months acute care experience in labor and delivery.
  2. Minimum education as required for licensure.
  3. BSN preferred. Moderate Sedation for all monitored areas preferred.
  4. Basic Fetal Monitoring, NRP, ACLS, BLS certifications required.
  5. Current California license as a Registered Nurse.
  6. Must cross-train to postpartum transition nurse.
  7. Must have neonatal experience.
  8. Position is represented by CNA.

Pay Range

$51.85 - $70.41 /hour
