Overview: Legacy at Salina, under the management of Campbell Street Senior Living, is seeking compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurses (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to join our team. We are a premier senior living community providing skilled nursing and long term care services. Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care by assessing and monitoring patient health, administering medications and treatments, and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Supervise and manage nursing assistants (CNAs), ensuring that daily care duties are performed in accordance with care plans.
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans for residents based on physician orders, assessments, and resident/family preferences.
  • Administer medications, injections, and treatments per physician’s orders and in accordance with facility policies and state regulations.
  • Monitor residents’ vital signs and report any changes in condition to physicians and nursing management.
  • Assist with daily activities of residents including mobility, bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding when necessary.
  • Document patient care and observations accurately and promptly in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Coordinate with the healthcare team (physicians, social workers, family members) to discuss patient conditions and treatment plans.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations such as HIPAA, Kansas nursing practice laws, and all facility policies.
  • Participate in family conferences to provide updates on care and assist with care planning for residents.
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to residents and families, offering reassurance and guidance as needed.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new nursing staff, ensuring that they are familiar with facility protocols and resident care expectations.
  • Ensure proper infection control practices are followed in all areas of patient care.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide appropriate medical intervention as needed.
  • Support resident transitions, including admissions and discharges, ensuring smooth continuity of care.

Education Requirements & Qualifications (Kansas):

  • For RN: Valid and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kansas.
  • For LPN: Valid and active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Kansas.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Experience in long-term care or senior living is preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Kansas nursing regulations, medical terminology, and best practices in patient care.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and team members.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (e.g., assist with resident transfers, moving equipment, etc.).
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods during shifts.
  • Ability to assist with resident mobility, including moving or repositioning residents in beds, chairs, and other locations.
  • May need to push or pull equipment such as wheelchairs, carts, or medical supplies.
  • Clear communication skills (spoken and written) to interact with staff, residents, and families.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to work some evenings, weekends, or holidays as required by the facility’s staffing needs.
