A housekeeping supervisor oversees the housekeeping staff and ensures that the facilities are clean and meet the quality standards of the employer.

Requirements:
  • Training: Train new employees and provide on-the-job training for proper use of chemicals and equipment
  • Cleaning: Inspect rooms and public areas, and perform cleaning duties as needed
  • Safety: Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies, and that all chemicals and laundry equipment are used according to manufacturer recommendations
  • Inventory: Maintain an inventory of supplies, including cleaning supplies, linens, and room essentials
  • Scheduling: Schedule work assignments and prepare cleaning schedules
  • Performance: Monitor staff performance and provide feedback and coaching as needed
  • Complaints: Investigate complaints regarding housekeeping services and equipment, and take corrective action
  • Coordination: Coordinate with other departments for guest services
  • Emergencies: Handle all housekeeping emergencies

Housekeeping supervisors should have strong leadership and organizational skills, knowledge of cleaning procedures and equipment, and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. They should also be familiar with safety and hygiene regulations.
