Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Housekeeper Supervisor to join our team at Adventist Health Hospital. The Housekeeper Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the activities of the housekeeping staff to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the hospital. This role is crucial in upholding our standards of cleanliness and infection control, contributing directly to the comfort and well-being of our patients and staff.

In the heart of The Dalles, Oregon, Adventist Health Columbia Gorge has served the Columbia River Gorge community since 1901. We are comprised of a 49-bed hospital, various medical offices, home health, a birthing center and a vast scope of services located throughout The Dalles and the surrounding areas. Job Summary:

Performs environmental services and sanitation tasks on a daily and project basis. Responsible for general cleaning in all areas of the hospital. Completes maintenance records as required. Actively participates in Quality Assurance program. Assigns employees to perform environmental services and sanitation tasks on a daily basis. Assists manager in maintaining a high quality standard of cleanliness by conducting daily inspections to observe equipment in use and ensure that standards are being met. Maintains records and prepares reports on activities and work performance. Orients, trains and supervises departmental personnel. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Five years' environmental services experience: Preferred
  • One year's environmental services experience: Preferred


Facility Specific License/Certifications:
  • Driver's License (DL): Required
  • Auto Insurance (AUTO): Required


Essential Functions:
  • Coordinates, assigns, and performs specific housekeeping duties and projects which include terminal and concurrent unit cleaning and preparation of patient rooms for occupancy, washing ceilings, walls, windows, carpet shampooing, stripping, and waxing floors. Assists in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies. Orders supplies, maintains, and monitors inventory.
  • Ensures that soiled and clean linen shall be handled, stored and processed in a safe manner. Ensures adequate supplies for hospital operation and orders department supplies and controls distribution within budget guidelines. Ensures that clean linen is delivered to hospital completely wrapped and stored in a designated clean area and verifies proper linen temperature use from laundry company.
  • Conducts quality control inspections to assure standards are met and necessary work is being completed. Assists with the department inventory levels of supplies and equipment.
  • Assists with department scheduling and staffing to ensure adequate coverage and service to all areas of the facility. Provides Flex Scheduling to accommodate changes in census and/or work loads.
  • Exercises independent judgment in supervising and responsibly directing assigned staff. Delegates and assigns work to personnel for effective utilization of their skills and to meet business needs. Recruits and orients new employees. Ensures all employees are sufficiently trained to carry out their duties. Creates an engaging workplace and encourages others to contribute creative and innovative approaches to achieve continuous improvement. Drives a performance culture through appraisals and other coaching. Disciplines personnel when deems appropriate.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
