Job Description
HOURS: 20 hours/week. 4:00-8:00 Monday-Friday
SUMMARY: Works as a team member with the Facilities Department to keep Museum buildings, offices, facilities, and ground in clean and presentable condition by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Cleans windows, blinds, and window sills, dusts, sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums offices, restrooms, hallways, stairs, public exhibition spaces, and other work areas.
Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, finished surfaces, and trim. Dusts furniture and equipment. Polishes metalwork.
Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork. Washes windows, door panels and sills.
Empties wastebaskets, garbage containers, collects recycling materials, and empties and cleans ashtrays. Transports trash, waste and recycling materials to proper disposal area.
Replenishes bathroom supplies.
Notifies management concerning need for repairs or additions to lighting, heating and ventilating equipment.
Closes, locks, and engages electronic security systems for Museum buildings and gates.
Assists with other facility maintenance activities such as painting, pressure washing, moving, repairs, etc. as time allows after janitorial duties are completed. Is responsive to cleaning requests of Museum personnel.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Florida Driver’s license and safe driving record.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
