JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Lodge - Supervisor, Housekeeping

FLSA: Non-Exempt / Hourly

DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping

REPORTS TO: Manager, Housekeeping

SUMMARY: Supervise housekeeping personnel; inspect and approve cleanliness of rental accommodations in assigned areas of responsibility. Plan, coordinate, schedule and supervise all operating aspects of the Housekeeping department, to include, but not limited to:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise the operation of the housekeeping department.
  • Complete daily weekly, semi-monthly, monthly and annual work schedule/checklist.
  • Participate in the on-going training and improving of all housekeeping personnel and assist the department in ensuring continuous improvement is being enforced.
  • Participate and offer suggestions and improvements for over-all efficient operation of the department.
  • Ensure all your units are inspected and released properly for check in.
  • Support the training of your housekeepers in any area of concern, i.e. stay-over procedures, chemical awareness, proper cleaning techniques etc.
  • Assist in the reward and acknowledgement of your housekeepers as appropriate
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

Skill & Abilities in:
  • Using initiative, discretion, and judgment within established procedures, guidelines, and rules.
  • Defining problems, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Pick up daily assignment sheet and go over with your housekeepers. Ensure they are aware of what they can get into to start their day and that you know where they will begin to work.
  • Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Collect necessary supplies and ensure your housekeepers have what they need.
  • Support the training of your housekeepers in any area of concern, i.e. stay-over procedures, chemical awareness, proper cleaning techniques etc.
  • Assist with transport of housekeepers when using a company vehicle for the day. Ensure your vehicle has all supplies necessary including Cascade, Dawn, light bulbs and batteries.
  • Assist with pick up of housekeepers in the evening, if needed.
  • Spot check daily, inventories of all assigned units. Schedule and ensure yearly inventories are carried out in your area of responsibility.
  • Inspect and update all vacuum cleaners in areas of assignment.
  • Communicate with other supervisors on an as needed basis, i.e. when updates are needed and you are assigned off.
  • Promote a positive, happy and efficient operation for all housekeeping staff, ensuring there is an open line of communication between all associates.
  • Participate in all meetings as needed and be prepared to offer suggestions and/or ideas for continuous improvement.

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:

GED or High School Diploma preferred

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT(S):

  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted Virginia driver’s license upon hire and maintain throughout the length of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • Physical demands on the incumbent consist of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Incumbent must have the stamina to work long hours and overtime, if assigned, and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or varying shifts.
  • Work is performed in an indoor/outdoor environment. Incumbent shall be exposed to conditions normally encountered in an outdoor environment and including travel from site to site.
