Summary of Duties:

Support the department by assisting the supervisor with workflow, employee assignments, training, safety, and quality. Performs machine set-ups, and operates various machines as required to produce a finished product. Review blueprints, drawings, and shop orders to ensure adherence to customer specifications. Performs in-process inspections to ensure customer order accuracy and quality standards. Maintain concise router documentation and other required production reporting.

What You'll Do:
  • Pull raw material and stage at machine centers for processing.
  • Advise material handler of specific material needs in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for assisting supervisor with daily production and employee time reporting.
  • Give instructions to employees as needed; and assist with training and/or retraining of employees.
  • Build tools necessary to operate machine center.
  • Identify tools needed by reading program or set-up sheet.
  • Operates various fabrication machines as necessary, fabricating metal parts to specification.
  • Verifies quantity and size of fabricated items by using various measuring devices.
  • Maintain product quality and completes paperwork and documentation as required.
  • Visually inspect product for conformance to specifications and adjust as needed.
  • Follow all safety rules.
  • Responsible for keeping work area and equipment clean, orderly, and free from clutter.
  • Maintain and meet established machine center efficiencies.
  • Follow designated production schedules and coordinate work according to priorities.
  • Promptly notify management of issues of safety, quality, production, and needed discipline.

  • Must possess and demonstrate good leadership skills; and ability to work well with others and demonstrate team player behavior.
  • Exhibit to all employees a professional and positive image and to support the company policies, procedures, and other members of management.
  • Must be able to work well with little or no supervision and exercise reasonable judgement independently.
  • Reading and understanding basic programming to make minor changes at machine centers requiring this activity preferred.
  • Understand types of tools and tooling at machine centers.
  • Ability to follow written instructions; and write legibly.
  • An understanding of measuring instruments, gauges, and test equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand blueprint specifications and have a proficient understanding of decimals and fractions.
  • Demonstrate above average mechanical aptitude.
  • Possess and demonstrate good written and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects at frequent intervals.
  • Requires walking, standing, stooping, and bending 100% of the time.

Requirements:
  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma plus 2 years technical school training and/or 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a metal fabricating environment.
  • Blueprint reading, computer proficiency, mechanical drawing.
  • Proficiency with measurement equipment including digital height gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other related equipment.
  • Must be able to learn, operate, program, and set-up all fabrication equipment.
