Job Overview:
The Medical Director will be an active member of a team which develops and implements a comprehensive health program at the clinic.
Duties
1. Provide medical care and treatment at sites approved by the Board of Directors regardless of a patient’s ability to pay including Medicaid, Medicare, and underinsured patients.
2. Assure after-hours, weekend, and holiday coverage by establishing a rotating call schedule, within reasonable limits.
3. Promptly prepare and maintain accurate records of services provided in the patient medical records in accordance with Clinical Policies and Procedures of JVCHC, all State and Federal laws, and any other recognized regulatory agency requirements.
4. Assure all Medical Providers within their supervision follow established clinical policies and procedures.
5. Responsible for the control of controlled substances: administering handling, inventory, and record-keeping in accordance with the clinic’s Controlled Medication Policy.
6. Manage disciplinary actions and provider issues with support from the operations director.
7. Assist fellow clinicians as necessary to facilitate effective and timely health care to the patients of JVCHC.
8. Develop and maintain written job performance evaluations for the medical personnel.
9. Assist in approval of PTO and all scheduling of continuing and professional education (including maintenance of CME requirements), in-service training and orientation of the clinical staff.
10. Attend all required in-service training programs, staff meetings, and provider contract negotiations.
11. Participate, as appropriate, in conjunction with the operations director and manager, in the periodic review of practice management functions (e.g. reception, telephone triage, patient flow, laboratory, tracking systems, etc.)
12. Review all patient complaints as they relate to clinic care.
13. Implement recommended changes as approved by the Executive Team.
14. Attains all agreed goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the Clinic’s overall mission.
Requirements:Required Qualifications:
- Required graduate of an accredited medical school, completed at least a three year residency in a primary care specialty
- Must have a minimum of one (1) year experience managing major clinical activities in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or other medical facility.
- State license to practice medicine; including prescriptive privileges.
- Current Missouri license to practice medicine.
- Current DEA number.
- Must be fully eligible to participate in federal, state, and private insurance plans.
- Current BLS or ACLS Certificate required
