The job of the head coach is to provide education, leadership, supervision and organization of the assigned interscholastic team.

- Must be able to attend all school practices, games, tournaments, meetings, etc.
- Must be able to drive district vehicles to transport participants if needed.
- Responsible for all matters pertaining to the organization and coaching of the team under their direction.
- Enforce all rules of the league, state and national association as they pertain to the respective sport.
- Assure that players and coaches under their jurisdiction understand that a completed and signed parental permission form and physical examination packet shall be in the hands of the Athletic Director prior to an athlete beginning practice.
- Cooperate with the Administration, Athletic Director, fellow coaches and students to promote the best interests of the entire athletic program.
- Work with the Athletic Director in the assignment of assistant coaches.
- Order equipment and supplies in accordance with district rules.
- Prepare a roster for team and update as needed.
- Assume responsibility for any participants from beginning of practice until they have left the building/site.
- Accompany and supervise the team to and from all contests.
- In the event of an injury, file an accident report form with the appropriate office.
- Attend scheduled coach's meetings unless excused by the Athletic Director.
- Clarify to parents/athletes the letter award policy.
- Recommend student-athletes for special awards (All-League).
- Check arrangements for all transportation with the Athletic Director.
- Emphasize safety precautions and use accepted training and injury procedures.
- Report the outcome to the local media.
- Maintain records of the team and individual accomplishments.
- Communicate with parents/players "Senior Night" information.
- Have a written policy of emergency procedures and protocols on file with the Athletic Director and communicated with assistants.
- Complete and file mandatory WIAA rules clinics with Athletic Director.
- Immediately reports all violations or suspected violations of established rules and regulations to the Athletic Director.
- Organizes awards and recognition for athletes/participants.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful prior experience as head or assistant coach in designated sport/activity.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Criminal background clearance
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to motivate student athletes.
- Ability to communicate with individuals and groups from varied educational and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to direct and evaluate performance of assistant coaches.
- Ability to organize and manage all aspects of assigned interscholastic sport/activity.
