Job Description
Outpost/Sporting Goods PICs stock, straighten, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the department to create an appealing and safe shopping environment for customers and schedule and supervise team members within the department, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. This role includes placing regular orders for merchandise to ensure that the department is well-stocked and meets customer demand, performing background checks on firearm sales in strict accordance with company guidelines and federal/state laws and regulations to ensure compliance and safety, accurately logging, inventorying , transferring, selling, and recording firearms, following company policies and adhering to federal and state laws and regulations and providing exemplary customer service, ensuring that customer inquiries are addressed promptly and that their satisfaction is a top priority.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Project sales and schedule labor to comply with established and/or directed standards.
- Implement and maintain merchandising standards to keep the department organized, including product arrangement, restocking, and regular rotation.
- Verify product signage accuracy and replace computer-generated signs as needed.
- Utilize tools like a box knife to unbox and display products and handle packaging materials.
- Manage register transactions, including high-ticket item verification with a supervisor.
- Assist with merchandise transfer, packaging orders, and adherence to safety and security procedures.
- Handle payments accurately and maintain register funds with counts at the beginning and end of shifts.
- Complete related tasks, including department setup and closing duties, cleaning, restocking, and paperwork.
- Use a manual pallet jack to move and position pallets of merchandise and consolidate products as needed.
- Collaborate with supervisors and managers to determine merchandising priorities.
- Maintain department cleanliness through sweeping, mopping, wiping, and dusting, as well as trash disposal.
- Work with vendors to optimize order quantities and product rotation.
- Provide prompt and courteous customer service, including answering inquiries and directing customers.
- Assists in other departments of the store as necessary.
- Operate cash register, hand-held/tabletop scanners, conveyor belt, carts, flatbeds, trash compactor, cardboard baler, electronic order gun.
- Performs other functions as necessary or assigned.
Experience/Education:
- A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- Customer service skills preferred.
- Knowledge of Sporting Goods, Fishing and Hunting.

Pay Range: $22.00 to $25.00

Working Environment
Work is performed in a store setting with ability to speak and receive phone communications often. Work requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment. Continuously standing, walking, reaching at/below shoulders, frequently lift/carry up to 20 pounds below waist, up to 50 pounds at waist/chest and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds above shoulders.
