Work Days: Daily contracted services, as needed (Dec. - March)
Position Summary
Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County is seeking a responsible and dependable seasonal temporary bus driver to transport students to and from games and extracurricular events. This is a 1099 contract position requiring availability during the sports season, including evenings and weekends. The ideal candidate will prioritize safety, reliability, and a commitment to supporting our students and school community.
Essential Functions:
- Safely operate a school bus or similar vehicle to transport students to games and events.
- Follow all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to ensure the safety of passengers.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, and any incidents.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment as needed.
- Provide a safe and respectful environment for all passengers.
- Communicate effectively with coaches, parents, and event coordinators about schedules and changes.
- Maintain a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of the students.
- Ensure that ACADC policies are observed during all activities.
- Be familiar with fire exits, fire drill procedures, severe storm and tornado warning procedures. Maintain confidentiality as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt to circumstances. Exhibit good judgment and use appropriate language or behavior while on assignment.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Valid driver's license.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Previous experience driving buses or similar vehicles preferred.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to the policies, mission, and vision of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools of Colorado.
- Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.
- Strong hand-eye-foot coordination to operate bus controls safely.
- Capability to grip, manipulate, and control steering wheels, gears, and other vehicle controls.
- Ability to climb in and out of the driver's seat or bus entryway.
- Capacity to assist with the loading and unloading of equipment (up to 30-50 pounds occasionally).
- Adequate vision to read road signs, navigate routes, and monitor passenger activity.
- Sufficient hearing to respond to external sounds (sirens, horns, etc.) and communicate with passengers.
- Physical and mental capability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Ability to maintain focus and energy throughout irregular schedules, including evenings and weekends.
- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.).
The Board of Directors at ACACS has contracted with Minga Education Group Services (MEGS) to provide employment services for all staff that work at locations within ACACS, including Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County (ACADC). Through this partnership, MEGS provides ACACS with employment services, a personnel system for human resources, benefits, payroll services as well as access to a 401(k) plan. For naming purposes, Minga Education Group Services is the employer.
