Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer at U.S. Army Reserve Command in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the 88th Readiness Division, AMSA 61, located at Boise, Idaho. This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve. Responsibilities Troubleshoot, repair, modify and maintain a variety of heavy mobile equipment such as construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and powered support equipment. Remove and repair major systems or components of equipment to include power packs, transmissions, transfers, gear reduction units, injector pumps, air conditioners, fuel pumps and alternators. Make idle speed, current, brake, and transmission linkage adjustments. Perform initial and in-process inspections. Perform mechanical diagnostics and troubleshoot to localize defects and determine cause of malfunction. Perform mechanical maintenance on defective parts. Perform minor body work. Provide technical assistance to unit personnel. Operate motor vehicles to perform the duties of this position. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: troubleshoot, maintain and repair heavy mobile equipment to include performance of preventative maintenance checks and services; repair, replace, install, or make adjustments to mobile equipment components and parts; and conduct various operational tests to perform final inspection.
