Hardware Specialist


Job Description

We are looking for a passion for electro-mechanical hardware test and debug. The primary focus of the role is to manage incoming system hardware bring-up, initial test, and debug along with continuous improvement of the lab environment as the company grows.

As a Hardware Specialist, your responsibilities are:

  • Incoming inspection and initial system bring-up to support system integration
  • Debug hardware implementation as the system software is tested and the system use cases are verified
  • Complete PCB design and layout to support test setups for various subsystem development
  • Create bench level experimental setups and interfaces to collect data
  • Lead the inventory management of systems, instruments, transducers, and components.
  • Develop processes that support the growth of the Company inventory management.
  • Support system testing through the regulatory process
  • Facilitate cross-site communication through Agile tool implementation and thorough documentation, generation of detailed test plans and protocols, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in a relevant engineering degree such as electrical, mechanical, or physics
  • 7+ years industry experience
  • Lab experience with instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition boards, etc.) and circuit debugging experience
  • Experience with electronic debugging and troubleshooting including soldering, probing, etc.
  • Experience with mechanical subsystem building, debugging, and troubleshooting including 3D printing, machining, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and technical analyses
  • Hands-on experience with CAD design and layout, preferably using spice simulator and Altium● Ability to write documentation to support the Company quality management system
  • Willing to relocate to the Santa Clara, CA area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Design Control for regulated products and knowledge of applicable regulations (e.g. ISO13485, IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2, IEC 60601-2-37, ISO 14971)
  • Demonstrated capability writing control code and test scripts with Python or C/C++
  • Hands on experience with optical setups, fiber optic cabling, connectors, and general optical instrumentation
  • Hands-on experience with systems using FPGAs or microcontrollers
  • Passion for medical devices, with excellent communication and teamwork skills
