System Development Engineer, OPD Hardware

We are looking for a System Development Engineer to help integrate and support our next-generation silicon onto future Amazon devices. In this role, you will work with customers, system architects, program managers, and hardware engineers to support, troubleshoot, and fix kernel drivers and BSP for our next-generation devices.
You will be responsible for the debugging and development of real-time embedded firmware and embedded Linux software that implements security controls for the platform.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Linux BSPs for multimedia-enabled embedded systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and optimize multimedia functionalities within BSPs.
- Customize and configure Linux kernels, drivers, and modules for specific hardware platforms.
- Support the Factory tasks to ensure the fast turnaround for solving assembly line issues.
- Triage and fix issues that occur during the integration and production phases of the products.
- Debug and resolve issues related to multimedia components, drivers, and system integration.
- Optimize system performance, including boot time, power consumption, and resource utilization.
- Conduct feasibility studies and performance analysis for new multimedia features and technologies.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and user guides.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in multimedia technologies and Linux development.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust.
- Experience with Linux/Unix.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes.
- In-depth knowledge of Linux kernel internals, device drivers, and embedded systems development tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Understanding of hardware architectures and interfaces (e.g., I2C, SPI, PCIe).
- Knowledge of Yocto Project or other embedded Linux build systems.
