Opportunity Overview

The Teradyne Hardware Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated, energetic Electrical Hardware Design Engineer to focus on the development of hardware products within the Semiconductor Test Division to be based out of Fridley, MN. Development occurs in a dynamic and challenging multi-site development environment.

The successful candidate for this challenging position will design cutting edge electronic hardware used to test integrated circuits in test systems around the world. While the position is principally an electronic hardware designer, the engineer will gain experience with all aspects of modern complex system development in a collaborative environment. These aspects include hardware, software, and logic design; design for test and manufacturability; thermal management; mechanical engineering; requirements development and management; and other engineering disciplines.

In Fridley, MN, we are a close-knit team working in an exciting, focused atmosphere. We develop instruments for testing ICs used in many of today’s electronic products. Our products integrate state-of-the-art digital and analog designs along with novel cooling techniques.

In this role, you will participate in digital, analog, and power circuit design, specification margin analysis, design verification, design for reliability, testability, and manufacturability, participation in industry seminars and ongoing skills-based training, participation in design reviews, failure analysis, writing specifications, collaboration with semiconductor suppliers.

You will work closely with cross functional engineering teams such as Firmware, Software, QA, Thermal Design, Mechanical Design. and Manufacturing. Hardware designers must be able to work as part of these cross functional teams and be able to navigate the challenges that occur in designing complex products.

  • Understanding of digital design concepts

  • Knowledge of Transmission line application and High-Speed Design techniques is a plus

  • Knowledge of Schematic Capture is a plus

  • Proficiency with circuit simulation tools (e.g. IBIS, SPICE) is a plus

  • Experience with common lab bench top equipment (scopes, DMMs, function generators, etc.)

  • Thrives in dynamic and demanding settings

  • Self-directed and proactive

  • Adaptable and collaborative

  • Knowledge of PCB layout experience is a plus

  • BSEE or MSEE in Electrical or Computer Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience

  • underlying theory and principles.
