Contractor Sales (Estimator and Bids Specialist) position at our Walden, Colorado location.

Job Summary:

As a Retail Hardware Sales Team Member specializing in estimates and takeoffs, you will assist customers in determining the right materials and quantities needed for their projects. With a focus on providing accurate estimates and exceptional customer service, you will help guide customers through the selection process, ensuring they receive the best products for their needs. Candidates with construction experience will align well with this role, particularly if they are familiar with house kits and similar projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimating and Measuring:
    • Collaborate with customers to understand project requirements, including new builds, renovations, or repairs.
    • Assess and calculate the required materials, including hardware and construction supplies, for each project.
    • Provide cost estimates based on current prices and suggest alternatives if needed to fit their budget.
  • Learning and Sharing Product Knowledge:
    • Keep up-to-date with the latest products in the store, including tools, building materials, and hardware.
    • Explain the features and benefits of different products to help customers make informed choices.
  • Customer Interaction:
    • Offer friendly and helpful service by listening carefully to what customers need.
    • Address customer inquiries and clarify any questions regarding materials, pricing, and project details.
  • Preparing Quotes:
    • Create clear and detailed quotes for customers, listing the materials and costs involved.
    • Go over the quote with the customer and answer any questions or concerns they might have.
  • Teamwork:
    • Work with your teammates to ensure customers get their materials on time.
    • Coordinate with suppliers to get the best prices and guarantee products are available.
    • Assist other departments and help out wherever needed to provide an exceptional customer experience.
  • Record Keeping:
    • Keep accurate records of customer interactions, estimates, and sales leads.
    • Assist in managing customer orders and ensuring timely follow-up.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; extra education in construction or estimation is a plus
  • Experience in retail hardware sales or construction is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with construction materials and estimation
  • Able to use basic estimation tools, software, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong math and organizational skills
  • Good communication and people skills
  • Ability to lift up to climb up and down ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs with assistance, handle large odd-shaped items, and stock items in overhead areas
  • Requires frequent standing and walking
  • Must be able to work Saturdays and the flexibility to work occasional overtime based on business needs

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while remaining adaptable and flexible
