We are seeking a Multi-Disciplinary Engineer, such as Mechatronics, electromechanical, or physics, with a strong background in mechanical and electromagnetic design to develop future generations of haptic technology and actuators. Description
You will work on the development of haptic actuator architecture including concept generation, detailed design, modeling, design for manufacturing, and engineering build and validation. You will be expected to:
- Generate concepts and solutions to multi-disciplinary haptic related challenges
- Perform mechanical, magnetic, and electro-mechanical modeling to evaluate and optimize concepts and designs
- Prototype, evaluate, and debug innovative ideas
- Design and define mechanical components and assembly schemes
- Define detailed specifications and engineering requirements
- Participate in the development of new manufacturing and assembly processes with external vendors (including periodic international travel)
- Validate and characterize designs through multiple iterations
- Conduct failure analysis and design of experiments (DOEs) to resolve root cause and implement corrective actions
- Generate new intellectual property
You will be working in a collaborative environment with multi-functional teams that specialize in diverse areas of expertise. Your responsibilities will also include:
- Collaborating with the design studio and system engineering groups to define and achieve experience goals
- Designing for manufacturability with Process, Manufacturing Design, Technical Operations, and other cross-functional teams
- Communicating multi-functionally and throughout the management structure on a regular basis (written, verbal, and presentation)
- Managing and tracking multiple priorities within schedule requirements
- Leading design reviews and design documentation releases
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong fundamental in mechanics
- Experience with magnetic or motor design
- Applied knowledge of electrical circuits, instrumentation, control, and basic programming
- Experience using FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to guide the design process
- Experience with 3D CAD, 2D drafting, GD&T, and tolerance analysis
- Team oriented with excellent written and verbal communication and leadership skills
- BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience

Preferred Qualifications
- Actuator system design experience is a plus
- Hands-on detailed product design experience in consumer electronics products is a plus
- Experience with mass production and design for manufacturing is a plus
