Juneau Land Operations

UnCruise Adventures operates four vessels from April through September in Southeast Alaska. The vessels dock in Juneau weekly or bi-weekly from Friday through Sunday with up to two vessels per day, the largest of which has 88 guests and 31 crew. The Juneau Land Operations team works to assist the vessels and guests with their various needs, from provisioning support to luggage movement with a constant focus on guest service and vessel support.

Job Summary

The Dock Operations Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of dock operations, including moving and staging provisions for vessels while in port, inventory of dock storage, procurement, pick-up, and delivery of orders from vendors to company vessels, inventory control, and administrative associated with procurement of product. The Dock Operations Coordinator will also maintain working relationships with company vendors and assist the land operations team and vessel crew as directed. The Dock Operations Coordinator reports to the Land Operations Manager.

Schedule and Pay Range

  • This position is in-person, land-based in Juneau, Alaska. Accommodation and relocation will not be provided.
  • This position starts in April 2025 and ends in September 2025 (approximately a 6 month position).
  • $24.00 - $28.00 per hour - Depending on Experience. Compensation for this full-time (seasonal) position will be at an hourly rate for 40 hours per week, Wednesday through Sunday.

Essential Duties

  • Assist Juneau Land Operations team in the offloading, storage, and staging of weekly barge deliveries from Seattle and various vendors, both at the Juneau Land Operations Office and at the dock.
  • Assist Juneau Land Operations team with keeping the office and dock containers clean and organized.
  • Assist with vessel stores delivery and guest luggage movements.
  • Assist with vessel offloads of trash, recycling, and laundry.
  • Organize and maintain dock containers and dock areas used by UCA vessels, etc.
  • Keep updated reports of physical and mechanical conditions of the electric dock cart and the loading dock carts to provide proper maintenance.
  • Keep inventory of dock container storage.
  • Picking up supplies from local vendors.
  • Receiving shipments from air cargo and other shipping services.
  • Assist vessel with various tasks as assigned by the Land Manager.                                   

Qualifications

  • Detail oriented, thorough, and able to follow through on assigned tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Handle multiple tasks with ease.
  • Ability to get along well in a team environment and support co-workers.
  • Able to understand and follow safety standards.
  • Strong sense of urgency – able to move quickly to prioritize and accomplish tasks.
  • Familiarity with hardware, tools, and vessel operations
  • Proficient user of computer systems, with the ability to utilize MS software applications in a Windows environment.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule between the hours of 7:00am and 5:30pm.

Physical Demands

This position will be physically demanding. Bending, climbing, repetitive motion, and heavy lifting of loads up to 50 pounds or more are requirements of this position. This position requires long hours of standing and being on your feet.
