Scion Nonprofit Staffing is excited to introduce an exceptional opportunity for a Vice President of Development (VP of Development) for a rapidly growing performing arts organization in Chicago dedicated to fostering unity and dialogue through innovative performances and community engagement. For nearly five decades, our client has been a leader in producing diverse, high-quality musical theater while providing educational outreach programs that empower students and cultivate emerging playwrights. They're committed to using the arts as a catalyst for positive social change and community building.

We're seeking an experienced performing arts fundraising professional to join their leadership team during a pivotal time in the organization's growth. The VP of Development will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and Executive Team to shape the future and lead the upcoming capital campaign.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Staff leader of the Capital Campaign working with CEO/Executive Director, the board of directors and all campaign consultants
  2. Work in partnership with the CEO and board of directors to develop short range and long-range fundraising plan to meet annual revenue goals
  3. Support the implementation of Three-Year Plan as it relates to fundraising
  4. Provide leadership, management, and mentoring to Development staff; provide guidance on best practices and strategy when needed
  5. Create a comprehensive plan for growing philanthropic revenue
  6. Direct the work of the Development team in order to implement fundraising programs using donor cultivation and stewardship opportunities that maximize giving
  7. Manage an active portfolio of major donors and prospects by creating and implementing personalized cultivation and stewardship plans and gift requests for each donor within portfolio
  8. Analyze reports on donor and patron interactions to make strategic decisions to maximize giving opportunities; prepare and present information and progress to the leadership team and Board of Directors
  9. Research and write grants for the organization as well as ensure that there is a structured stewardship of all grants in place.
Qualifications

  1. Exceptional leadership skills, with a collaborative spirit and strong management skills; demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate staff, board, donors, and volunteers a must
  2. Proven track record of securing major gifts and grants
  3. Strong network of individual, institutional, and major gift donors
  4. Strong strategic and implementation skills; ability to grasp the opportunities and challenges of the organization and the role
  5. Outstanding communicator; excellent speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills
  6. High degree of emotional intelligence; empathetic and compassionate
  7. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Compensation And Benefits

  1. Competitive salary range of $160,000 - $180,000 depending on experience.
  2. Comprehensive benefits package including PTO, Sick Leave, and Holidays.
