Job Description Summary:
Be a senior member of the PayPal Post Purchase and Checkout User Growth Analytics team, with expertise in deriving actionable insights through deep-dive analysis. Skilled in supporting new product and feature launches by designing robust test-and-control frameworks and implementing continuous monitoring to track and optimize product performance.

Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist for our Post Purchase and Checkout User Growth Analytics team who excels beyond traditional reporting and analysis. This leader will leverage PayPal’s extensive data to uncover actionable insights, gaining a deep understanding of the Consumer Experience, Payment ecosystems, and site functionality. Along the way, they will enhance their analytical, leadership, and presentation skills while collaborating closely with diverse functional teams across PayPal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct deep-dive analyses on key business trends from multiple angles, delivering insights in clear, actionable presentations.
  • Design visually engaging data outputs that are intuitive for end-users to explore and understand.
  • Define critical metrics and develop executive-facing dashboards to monitor business performance and track progress on high-priority initiatives.
  • Identify key business levers, establish cause-and-effect relationships, and effectively communicate insights to stakeholders to drive data-informed decisions.
  • Collaborate with teams across Risk, Product, Marketing, and others to analyze performance trends, identify root causes, and solve complex challenges.
  • Facilitate new product launches by developing test-and-control plans and implementing continuous monitoring to assess product performance.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, proactively anticipating and addressing potential executive inquiries.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering) or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in an analytical role, with proven success managing teams of analysts or data scientists.
  • Proficiency in databases, spreadsheets, and statistical tools, with advanced skills in SQL, data mining, and BigQuery analytics (Google Cloud).
  • Extensive experience in experimentation, including designing, executing, and analyzing product or feature launches.
  • Expertise in synthesizing complex data into clear, actionable insights and narratives.
  • Experience working with large, multi-dimensional datasets and solving analytical challenges.
  • Familiarity with one or more tools such as Python, Tableau, Jupyter Notebooks, Teradata, Hadoop/Hive, SQL, and BigQuery is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to deliver actionable recommendations based on analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency with reporting tools like Tableau and Excel for creating and sharing insights.
  • Industry experience in payments, eCommerce, or financial services is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex problems into simpler terms, and effectively influence both peers and senior leadership.

PayPal is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Actual Compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to work location, and relevant skills and experience.

The total compensation for this practice may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable), equity, and medical, dental, vision, and other benefits.

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $84,500 to $204,600.

For the majority of employees, PayPal's balanced hybrid work model offers 3 days in the office for effective in-person collaboration and 2 days at your choice of either the PayPal office or your home workspace.
